Charlie's Tumbler Block Quilt

This is the first quilt I just made up as I went along without following a particular pattern. While attending the quilt retreat in February, two of the attendees brought their Accuquilt and Go Baby and offered to let us all use them. I made the large tumblers from the Accuquilt and the small ones from the Go Baby. It was so easy to cut the shapes and really made the whole process take half the time it normally would. The fabric which was purchased at Valli and Kim is called Echo by Lotta Jansdotter. The back is a random yellow dot which I picked because it matched the tiny yellow accents in the front fabric.

Since this is a baby quilt for my new little friend Charlie, I wanted to make a few extra goodies to go with it. I found this pretty grey and white flannel which I trimmed in yellow rick rack and backed with the same solid teal I used for the quilt border. I had a strip of the tumblers left over so I sewed it down the middle of a cloth diaper, trimmed it with the yellow rick rack and sewed on a white binding around the edge for a matching burp cloth. I think it all turned out pretty sweet.
Charlie and his mama Savannah seemed to like it and it came in handy during a windy day hanging at Lucy's during SXSW.
